Recently, we have been seeing some issues with assignments submitted via Google LTI and how they render in Speedgrader.  Submitted files were either rendered incorrectly in Speedgrader or with an error "This file contains HTML and cannot be previewed. Please download to view."

These issues are related to the Google LTI.  Canvas and Google are aware of the problems.

If you experience this issue, there are two workarounds at this time.

1) Have students submit from their laptop.

2) Students will need to change the file permission setting in their Google Drive prior to        submitting to Canvas from Google.

.

This can be done in Google Drive by right clicking the file -> Share -> Get link section.

 .

Change the sharing permissions of the Google Drive file to "Anyone with the link" can view before submitting it as an assignment to Canvas.
