If you are not able to Airplay to the Apple TV, or if a previous Airplay session is frozen in place, or you see a high-speed replay of a previous Airplay session, you will need to restart your Apple TV.
To restart your Apple TV
- Press the Menu button on the Apple TV remote.
- Navigate to, and select Settings which is the gear-looking icon.
- Once in Settings, navigate to System and select Restart (NOT Reset!)
Your Apple TV will restart. It can take a few minutes to restart, but once it does you should be able to successfully Airplay again.
Tip: Like any computer, restarting the Apple TV every now and then, even if you don't have any issues, can minimize issues such as the one above.
