There is an issue with Canvas where the availability dates and due dates can not be edited from the individual discussion itself.

If you come across this problem, you need to either go to the Discussions main page or Assignments main page and edit the dates from there.

We have a ticket open with Canvas and expect that it will be resolved soon.
