Tip #1: Really, really, really, (for reals) properly restart your laptop the night before testing.

You should be frequently restarting your Macbook anyway, but you especially want to restart it sometime prior to taking the SAT.

Many, many, many (many!) tech issues encountered during previous SATs were resolved with a simple restart.

Restarting takes less than a minute and can prevent a lot of problems and undue stress on test day.

Here's how!!!  Click the  and then select Restart...  (That's it!)

Tip # 2: Try opening the Bluebook application like, now, (or by Thursday at the latest) so you have time to resolve any issues.

Bluebook should already be installed on your Macbook. You can launch it from your Applications folder or by doing a Spotlight search for Bluebook.

When you launch Bluebook, if everything is OK, you should be presented with a screen similar to the following...

If you see an "Update Bluebook Now" screen, keep reading!

If you see the Update Bluebook Now screen...

  • Don't click the "Update Now" button.  It won't work.  Users do not have permissions to install applications on school laptops.
  • Restart your laptop.  Restarting often triggers pending updates.
  • After restarting, give it time to update. Updates may not happen immediately after restarting - perhaps up to an hour or even more.
  • If Bluebook still does not open correctly after restarting and waiting a bit, stop by your tech room for assistance.

Do not wait until test day to do this!

Tip# 3: Be sure to fully-charge your laptop prior to the SAT.  Loaner chargers are not available during the test.
