This issue seems to be related to the Chrome updates that incessantly occur  and can be temporarily remedied (until the next Chrome update);   Pay attention to the slide out notification(s) near the top right corner of the screen alluding to the imminent impending Chrome update as an indicator as to do the following:

• Quit Chrome fully (Click on the word 'Chrome' next to the  in the top left corner and then click 'Quit Google Chrome')

• If there is indeed a Chrome update to be had, Chrome will auto-magically update itself then reopen on its own, user just needs to be patient
(If Chrome does not indeed reopen on its own, jump to the following step)

• Quit all your open apps
(The quickest way to do this is to – all while holding down the ⌘ (command) key – ALTERNATELY press the 'Q' key then the 'tab' key repeatedly until only the 'Finder' (the blue 'face' iconis the last one standing.)

• Restart your laptop by clicking on the  in the top left corner and then clicking on 'Restart…' then clicking on the 'Restart' button in the ensuing pop-up window.

NOTE: A second restart may be in order if one still gets the dinosaur/no internet page in Chrome upon the first restart

After your laptop restarts, log back in and all your ails should be temporarily remedied until the next Chrome update.

NOTE: After any restart, when you reopen Chrome, our new filter has a  feature in which there is a "built-in" 10 second delay that makes it seem as if your internet connection is not working.   Please be patient for at least(!) 10  seconds.
